Fancy Baribal style French made folding knife. This style is sleek and very modern. Cutlers at Au Sabot are members of the prestigious Le Thiers Guild. Only the best earn membership in this select guild. Members are tested and inspected regularly for assurance of quality and integrity of methods. Tracing its origin to 1582 when French King Henry III established "The Coute de Tie Guild" to insure French cutlery quality, only members may use this protected mark on their products. This knife is presented with a genuine Ram's horn handle. Ram's horn has become very popular for high end knives in Europe due to it intricate grain and durability.
The blade is hammer forged high carbon steel left "in the black' and is famous for toughness and edge holding characteristics. This unusual knife is designed to be used or displayed in a fine collection.
This beauty is presented in a wooden display box with its own "fusil" or mii sharpening steel. These are made by the La Coutellerie Au Sabot company in the Auvergne region of France who's family has been making fine cutlery since 1870. These make wonderful gifts. In many areas of France, ladies and gentlemen take their own distinctive personal knife into fine restaurants. The waiter cleans them and places them by their place setting. These are very elegant and premium quality in the French cutlery tradition.
